| Flaxseed Oil And Your Teeth |
|
We are all learning about flax seeds and flaxseed oil for its positive health values due to the presence of the important omega-3 fatty acids. We are understanding that flaxseed oil can contribute to the reduction of certain types of heart disease, and that it has been shown to improve circulation, and reduce the chances of blood clots. But we're not entirely certain if flax seeds or flax seed oils can contribute to healthier teeth, whiter teeth, or reduce the chances of cavities or other forms of tooth disease. While there are trace amounts of calcium in flax seeds and flaxseed oil, which yes, can contribute to healthy teeth, hair, and bones, the levels of calcium are probably too small to make much of a difference directly on your dental health. However, one of the obvious benefits of flax seed oil, indirectly at least, is that by including it in healthy cooking and as a dietary supplement, you are contributing to your overall health and well-being, which can be a factor in healthy teeth and gums. For if the body isn't healthy, the teeth can't be happy either. But, if we look at the bigger picture, flaxseed oil has much to offer in the way of promoting good health by reducing bad cholesterol, reducing heart disease, relieving constipation, and some suggest it has some measurable effects on acne, arthritis, eczema, and skin, so if you are taking care of all those things when it comes to good health, your dental health isn't going to be too far behind. |
